It may sound melodramatic, but I will never forget the moment I was introduced to you. My two best friends were chatting at 6th grade basketball practice about their favorite songs by a blue-eyed beauty named Taylor Swift. In that moment, my life forever changed.

Anyone who knows me well knows me as the girl who lives, laughs, loves, breathes all things Taylor Swift. I have made lifelong friends bound by you and have found complete refuge and understanding through your music. I look forward to long, solo car rides because that gives me an excuse to belt the words to Dear John until I turn blue in the face. 

4 albums and 2 concerts later, my love for you Taylor has all but slowed down. The girl next to me at Red Tour legit tapped her mom and said “is that girl okay?” in reference to me hearing All Too Well live :’) I earned low key internet fame amongst my friends after going to battle for you after the “Taylor Swift is Dead” scandal. After sharing your post during the heat of the debacle, I went at it with a few Facebook friends who had some not so nice things to say about you and the situation. Defending you and your character came so naturally to me. It was like I was standing up for an old friend I had known for a lifetime. And I don’t say this to brag or earn your kudos, but instead I share this so you know how fervently and passionately I care for you.

I also must add that sophomore year of college I was required to take everyone’s favorite class: public speaking. My professor said to do our persuasive speech on something we care a lot about. Thus, it was not long before I had finished writing my speech about you. The title? “Why Taylor Swift is the Best Thing to Happen to the Modern World Since Sliced Bread”. Not to toot my own horn, but it was pretty damn good. I even used graphs. Oh, and a boy in my class asked me on a date afterwards because he was so impressed by my passion and knowledge…

Taylor, I cannot thank you enough for the happiness, pizazz, and meaning you bring to my life. You are more than an idol or a pop star; you are a woman who represents everything I could ever hope of becoming. I am so grateful for everything that you are and all that you have done for not only me but the billions of others that you have earned as fans.

I have dreams on the regular that we finally get to meet. I have dreams that we bake in your kitchen and tell stories and laugh for hours. It would mean the absolute world to get to feel your embrace in real life, or have the opportunity to insufficiently share how much you mean to my friends and I face to face. 

I will be breathing your oxygen in 2 days in Mercedes Benz stadium (August 11), and I am counting down the seconds until I am overcome by your beauty, talent, and power once more.
